YOUR RETREAT LEADERS:

David Westlake

“I was always curious about what it meant to live an authentic life. This inner wonder took me on many adventures eventually leading me to yoga. This ancient yet evolving art form gave me a framework in which to practice and further explore my questions. Yoga teacher training seemed like the next step. Little did I know how my life would change. Since then, yoga has rocked my world and taken me on an amazing path of self discovery and personal satisfaction. I get to teach and share meaningful ideas with so many whether it be in meditation, asana or discussion. What a gift! They say that we are only as capable as the teachers who have nurtured us along the way. I am blessed in that realm. Deep gratitude for my guides both on and off the mat especially Katey Inman for helping me as I stumble along the way, Dharma Mittra for challenging me to step further into the stream, Natalie Kellier for the inward push to go a little deeper, and most of all my father who constantly encourages me to follow the way wherever it may lead. I can’t say I have any answers but would love to share my questions with you whether that be in meditation, through the sweat of asana or in the round of discourse. See you on the mat my dear friends. Om shanti shanti shanti…”

Joshua Love

“It’s the ultimate paradox that I find myself both a student and teacher of a practice based on silencing the mind! I came to yoga with, at first, much resistance. My love/hate relationship with the practice of yoga dissolved into pure passion after my first hot yoga class. My “hot’ yoga teachers focused less on perfect alignment and placed the emphasis on effort, focus, and determination. I was hooked! My classes celebrate opposites: movement and stillness, music and quiet, effort and surrender—while always remembering to embrace our inner voice! Much love to all my “big” teachers (Rick Resnick, Jimmy Barkan, and Katherine Inman) and “small” teachers (to many to name). Namah Shivaya!”

Inner Alchemy Retreat by Brodie Welch | February 16 – 23, 2019

February 16 – 23, 2019 – Inner Alchemy Retreat
Brodie Welch

Let the sound of the waves be the backdrop for a week of rejuvenation, relaxation, reflection, and transformation. Drawing on the ancient wisdom of the Chinese Medicine and yogic traditions, we will examine how to live our most authentic, healthy, and joyful lives. We’ll also play with bodymind techniques for personal evolution.

The ocean will be your constant companion, lending its transformational presence to your inner work. For an entire week, you will have no responsibilities to cook, clean, or even to put on shoes — freeing up energy for relaxation and transformation at the deepest possible level.

All you have to do is get here.

With plenty of time for relaxing on the beach, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, getting a massage, journaling, or reading a book by the pool, we’ll explore:
• What it means to truly take care of ourselves with and evolve into who we want to become
• How yin, yang, and the elements of nature operate in the body-mind
• Body-mind strategies to break free from old patterns
• Qi gong (energy cultivation exercises) for self-healing
• Embodied meditation, visualization, chanting, and breathing techniques
• Self-compassion practices
• Intentional life design for showing up in our lives authentically

“This retreat allowed space for thoughts to surface and for me to reflect on aspects of my life that I had grown distant from. It has catalyzed me to return to living from my heart rather than my head, extending to the way I talk to myself and how I relate with others.
Brodie, you are great at facilitating discussion and engaging a group in complex and dense material. I love how to you draw on various perspectives and use humor to make the material accessible. You have a wealth of knowledge to share and you do so passionately and compassionately.I felt very uneasy and anxious at the beginning, with many questions, uncertainties and worries, Now, I feel like I have returned to my heart – the place that gently speaks to me of its desires and reminds me of my ability to carry out those desires without fear. I have also returned to acceptance of what is, as opposed to wanting to strive for ideals. . . I am reminded of my capacity for compassion towards myself.Thank you, Brodie. You are a warrior goddess!!”
– Breanna Johnson, Portand, OR

“All your workshops have been game-changers for me. They’ve sparked self-awareness and offered practical, doable changes in my curiosity, sense of possibility, ability to sustain effort in a desired direction. Thank you!” – Laila Ayyoub

“It was truly a ‘retreat’ – devoted to qigong and related concepts in an environment that allowed us to take care of ourselves with wonderful food, time in beautiful nature settings. Being able to do for myself what I already knew intellectually I must – take care of me in ways that will allow me to heal. With immense gratitude for all you have taught this week, for your enthusiasm, intelligence, and wisdom – for you!” – Phyllis Lefohn, Clancy, MT, Qigong Teacher

“The most valuable part of the retreat was cultivating self-acceptance, self-care through creating routines that honor my true essence or desires. Identifying the essential yin from the external yang of my life. Brodie’s a very intelligent and articulate human who shines with exuberance and passion for her work and for life, while also humble and with a great sense of humor.” – Liz Bounds, Lake Oswego, OR

“The energy you give off is spectacular. You explain things in a manner I could understand. All the grounding movement we did I will take home! Glad I was a part of this workshop. I learned enough to feel great!” – Theresa Erickson

“You are inspiring in your intelligence and knowledge of Chinese Medicine. I felt safe, listened to, experienced very strong feelings of joy and awareness in the workshop.” – Stephanie, Portland, OR

“The beautiful reminders of the utmost importance of daily consistent practice … I love the new breathing tools – and the qigong – so many wonderful options to center and ground me each day … your vast knowledge, practice, passion and enthusiasm for Chinese Medicine and all of the mind body spirit practices … was so fascinating, insight producing, life enhancing and kind of mind blowing!” – Celia Cavalli; Corvallis, OR

“I am more grounded, breathing deeper than ever before, and loving my daily practice instead of dreading it . . . I could go on and on, I feel like I can breathe all the way into my toes. The calming serenity of breath feels completely new to me. It is like discovering a super power!” – Erin Ryan; Corvallis, OR

“This retreat has helped me to trust what my body is telling me and accept its cravings/pain as wise communication.” – Ian Naftzger

“Brodie’s dedication and vast knowledge made this week an opportunity to learn on various levels, seek answers to a lot of questions about my life, my purpose and consolidate my awareness. The opportunity to share experiences, opinions, sentiments, feelings, fears and joys with a group of truly open minded people enriched the learning. The take-away is immense! A month or so later, I meditate daily; I visit the little qigong knowledge with great enthusiasm. I read over my notes from our sessions; I feel the week was a turning point in my life, the timing couldn’t have been better and I have been integrating many principles of Chinese medicine, qigong, yoga, and philosophy on a daily basis. And, it’s working – it’s not an effort; it’s natural.” – Agnes Mallet-Carbonneau; Seattle, WA

Women Building Connections Retreat w/ Fusion Studios | Feb. 23, 2019

February 23 – March 2, 2019 – An Invitation to Join Marsha and Avianna
Fusion Yoga Studio

Each year, Marsha Nieland of Fusion Yoga Studio hosts a women’s yoga retreat in Mexico. This week-long retreat in a tropical location at the end of February is a wonderful opportunity to step away from day-to-day responsibilities. The retreat offers an opportunity to disconnect from the “real world” of technology, work and family, and is an incredible opportunity to connect on a deeper level in areas that I care about. You will be able to connect with:
• a daily yoga practice;
• the power of regular meditation;
• like-minded women;
• the beauty of nature;
• fresh, healthy food and
• your own internal voice, pointing you in the direction of your passions

The retreat offers the opportunity to spend a week focused on all of these connections in a way that your regular life doesn’t allow.

Marsha provides a welcoming environment each and every week in the regular yoga class at her Fusion Studio. During the weeklong yoga retreat, she has the opportunity to go even further with her leadership to welcome each woman, make them feel seen and heard, help them take their yoga practice to the next level and to leave after your time spent together with a better sense of themselves. One hour a week spent in Marsha’s presence is great but seven days spent together with her focus and energy is amazing!

Marsha partners with Avianna Castro for these retreats. Avianna brings her own special magic to our meditations and to our self-reflections, tapping into our souls and our inner voices for greater self-discovery.

You will come home from the retreats feeling rejuvenated; more in-tune with yourself and with your yoga practice; and closer to the women in your yoga community. These trips are a gift to yourself which provide you with stronger connections to be the best version of yourself for the year ahead.

Join Marsha and Avianna at Present Moment Retreat as we will rejuvenate with offerings of spa treatments, healing arts and dine on healthy gourmet cuisine. Our beautifully-designed accommodations and loving staff are waiting to pamper you in every way.

As a marathoner, triathlete, and rock climber, Roseen understands the importance of an open body, the benefits of a positive and quiet mind and the powerful resource that is tapped when that open body and quiet mind are connected. But, it’s Ted’s sense of humor and lightness of heart that really sets him apart from other teachers, a true believer of tapping in to your inner playground. He has studied under a number of gurus, including Saraswathi Rangaswamy, daughter of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India and local yogi Dec Barry.
