Seeking full-time a Yoga Teacher/Massage Therapist for our Retreat Centre in Playa Troncones, Mexico
New & exciting opportunity to join the team at Present Moment Retreat, our Boutique Hotel in the beautiful surf region outside of Ixtapa/Zihuatenajo, Mexico. We are seeking full-time, a qualified Yoga Teacher and Massage Therapist to provide professional and engaging wellness therapies, massage treatments and yoga classes to our clients. You must be able to offer a full range of treatments to fulfill different client needs and objectives. The role is a mixture of Yoga Teacher, Massage Therapist, Guest Services, Yoga Studio operations, Reception, Sales, and helping to ensure the overall smooth operations of the retreat center.
POSITION:
Yoga Teacher/Massage Therapist
We are looking for experienced, kind-hearted, wellness professionals to lead Yoga & Meditation classes AND offer treatments such as various styles of Massage, Shamanic Healing, Acupuncture, etc…
An ideal applicant will:
- Provide a personalized service to our guests, consulting and recommending treatments to them with a high degree of professionalism
- Conduct top-quality massage/wellness sessions & yoga classes when required as part of the wellness schedule
- Lead 1-3 yoga classes per week and attend the weekly Meet & Greet for retreat groups
- Work 1 day per week at the Wellness Desk booking treatments and assisting in projects
- Work with the Wellness Manager to ensure the guests receive award-winning standards of service
- Promote all amenities, conveniences and programs offered at Present Moment Retreat
- Help create promo materials like flyers and notice boards for upcoming events
- Keep the treatment rooms and yoga platform clean and well-stocked
- Completing a daily checklist of tasks and responsibilities provided by the Wellness Manager
- Suggest and promote retail products or additional services
- Uphold hygiene standards and follow health and safety regulations
- Respond to any questions, needs and desires of guests, and follow up to ensure their requests have been met to their satisfaction
- Sign-in students into yoga classes using MindBody software
- Promote hotel services and activities
- Book and schedule appointments and activities for guests
- Handle cash & CC payments
- Maintain a clean and neat desk area
- Contribute to the operations of the retreat center
Must have strong interpersonal and therapeutic skills. As a member of the Wellness team you must be flexible with daily tasks, willing to lend a hand at any time, and be confident and professional with guests of the center.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven work experience as a Massage Therapist
- Minimum 200 hour YTT and 2 years teaching experience
- Hands on experience in massage techniques & body therapies
- Experience in sales & social media will be considered an asset
- Excellent knowledge of English language, as well as basic Spanish (required)
- Communication and customer service skills
- Positive attitude
- User level computer skills
- Proficient with, or able to quickly learn, MindBody software
- Able to legally work in Mexico (preferred)
- Must have solid professional references
- Hospitality experience
- $300 good-faith deposit to be reimbursed at the completion of the contractual dates. This displays your commitment and willingness to fulfill this opportunity through the high season
DURATION:
- November 2024 – April 2025 (possibly longer)
COMPENSATION:
- 35% of each treatment plus gratuity – 10-15 sessions per week on average ($500 +++ per week based on the number sessions)
- US $15 per yoga class plus US $5 per person beyond 3 people – Classes range in size from 10-35 students – A class of 20 students pays $100 for example (1 to 3 classes per week)
- Full donations generated from a Community Class if offered – $20-$150+++
- 50% of all restaurant charges (except Happy Hour)
- Free Yoga classes
- $25 shift pay for the weekly desk shift
- 5% commission on bookings made during the desk shift
- Vegetarian meal during each scheduled day shift
