Seeking full-time Wellness Manager / Lead Yoga Teacher for Retreat Centre in Playa Troncones, Mexico.
New & exciting opportunity to join the team at Present Moment Retreat, a Boutique Hotel in the beautiful surf region outside of Ixtapa/Zihuatenajo, Mexico. We are seeking a full-time qualified Wellness Manager/Lead Yoga Teacher to oversee the Present Moment brand of wellness, the wellness team, scheduling, staffing, training, payroll, the quality assurance of treatments and guest experience, while also leading 5-7 classes per week as well as the weekly Meet & Greet for retreat groups.
The role is a mixture of Team Leader, Retreat Facilitator, Yoga Teacher, Therapist, Guest Services, Yoga Studio operations, Reception and Sales.
POSITION:
Wellness Manager/Lead Yoga Teacher
We are looking for an experienced, kind-hearted, person with a background in wellness to:
- Provide a personalized, bespoke service to our guests, consulting and recommending treatments to them with a high degree of professionalism
- Manage and coordinate the overall operations of the wellness team and therapy rooms
- Ensure that the yoga & wellness spaces are maintained to an award-winning standard
- Ensure that the therapists are trained and motivated to an award-winning standard
- Appraise the team’s performance and report feedback during management meetings
- Oversight of the Present Moment brand of wellness, schedules, staffing, training, and payroll
- Conduct all necessary job postings and interviews to ensure adequate staffing levels
- Lead 5-7 yoga classes per week as well as the weekly Meet & Greet for retreat groups
- Co-create bespoke retreats with facilitators to promote Present Moment’s yoga and wellness network
- Manage a monthly budget for the department
- Motivate the wellness team to exceed revenue targets through promotions and upselling
- Complete all reporting, inventories, & budgets, and submit the details to the appropriate manager
- Liaise with the Reservations & Guest Relations Managers to ensure the guests receive award-winning standards of service
- Work with the Executive Chef to design raw, vegan, cleanse menus
- Conduct guest therapies and treatments when required as part of the wellness schedule
- Communicate with guests to schedule wellness consultations
- Attend regular classes to ensure all standards are being met and to provide constructive feedback
- Create Wellness manuals and checklists
- Schedule and lead regular team meetings
- Complete payroll on time every two weeks
- Create weekly Class and Wellness schedules
- Oversee all appointments in MindBody and coordinate schedules with Guest Relations
- Have a casual personal check-in with each guest on the day of their scheduled sessions
- Deliver all pertinent information to Guest Relations regarding guests therapy sessions and classes
- Promote all amenities, conveniences and programs offered
- Create promo materials like flyers and notice boards for upcoming events
- Suggest and promote retail products or additional services
- Uphold hygiene standards and follow health and safety regulations
- Respond to any questions, needs and desires of guests, and follow up to ensure their requests have been met to their satisfaction
- Sign-in students into yoga classes using MindBody software
- Promote hotel services and activities
- Oversee and balance all cash & CC payments
- Contribute to the operations of the retreat center
An ideal applicant must have strong leadership, interpersonal, and administrative skills. As a leader of the Wellness team you must be flexible with daily tasks, willing and able to motivate a team, and be confident and professional with guests of the center.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience as a Wellness or Spa Manager/Retreat Leader/Yoga Teacher & Therapist
- Minimum 200 hour YTT and 3 years teaching experience
- Hands on experience in massage techniques & body therapies
- Proficient computer skills
- Proficient with MindBody software
- Able to legally work in Mexico (preferred)
- Must have solid professional references
- Hospitality experience
- Experience in sales & social media will be considered an asset
- Excellent knowledge of English language, as well as basic Spanish (required)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Positive attitude
COMPENSATION:
- Salary to be determined based on experience and discussed during interview
- Daily meal and smoothie on work days and 50% off of all other restaurant charges
- Free Yoga classes
- 1 60 minute massage per month
WEEKLY SCHEDULE:
Thursday through Monday (generally) – 8 hours average shift
Leading the yoga classes from Friday PM to Sunday AM (may change weekly)
Leading an additional 1-3 yoga classes throughout the week
